Dining Room

This is our Dining Room. It is the first room I have finished unpacking. I have started hanging pictures. As I get rooms unpacked and clean, I will be sharing photos.

New Blog

I have started a new blog just for the fun creative stuff I am doing. I am calling it "Anna's Mountain Treasures" and you can link to it at the side bar.

We have had our first bear. One got into the trash and really tore it up. We did not hear anything. It figures. So David has moved the trash can into the locked trailer. That should stop them.

Knitting

Yesterday afternoon I decided to learn how to knit mittens. They are not perfect and I nearly ran out of the yarn I was using but aren't they cute and don't they just go with the hat?

This one I did yesterday just for kicks. The color slubs came out in a swirl. It looks like art.

My first attempt at knitting a design into a hat. I like it. The yarn is a chunky wool blend and the pattern is simple. I think it will be very warm.
This is my first experience with kitting in stripes. I started at the top and worked my way down. I got a lot better at hiding the color jogs as I went along. It makes me think of ice cream toppings. Chocolate, butterscotch, caramel.

I made this one for David. He doesn't get it until his birthday but it is so beautiful I had to show you. It's made from a hand dyed wool, color: Mountain Man.

I've been knitting when I am not unpacking. This is the first hat. I used self striping yarn and a new pattern (new to me). It is so cute.

Another peak visible from the deck.

Snow in August

This is our view of Winter Park ski runs. Note the fresh snow, it's August. You can really see how much beetle kill there is even from this distance.

The Great Mouse Catcher

Last night Solomon caught his first mouse. We are so proud. He is an indoor kitty with no claws and has never seen a mouse before so the fact that he caught one is really impressive.

This is one of the mountains visible from the deck. There is a lot of beetle kill pine in our area. You can see the brown trees everywhere. Fortunately our landlord has had the trees on his property sprayed. All around us there is cutting going on. Some days are loud with the sound of chain saws and the equipment used to haul off the wood. On the up side, we have loads of free firewood available to us and a fireplace.

Visitors

My folks stopped by on their way home from my sisters place in WY. They are standing on the deck in front of the house. It was sure good to see them.
We all went to the fiber mill at The Lonesome Stone. Mom and I had a great time looking through the yarn.
My favorite place to sit for reading, knitting, eating or just relaxing is at the table on the deck. I doubt I will still feel that way once it starts to snow.

This is the house we are renting. It sits well above the road. I love the trees, flowers, rocks and the complete lack of a lawn to maintain.

Moving

This is our first posting. To start our new adventure, we moved to Tabernash Colorado from Colorado Springs. We had a lot of help. Our deep and heartfelt thanks goes out to Dave, Joe, Toby, Gary, Chris, Mom, Dad, Edna and Rick. You guys are the greatest and we love you all.

Now we have to unpack. There are boxes everywhere. This house is a lot smaller than the one in CS. We have gotten rid of mucho stuff but still appear to have too much. God has truly blessed us.

The Dogs are happy; they have taken over the back yard and discovered mice in the wood pile. They are in puppy dog heaven. The cat has found mice in the house and is in kitty cat ditto.

Anna (that's me) has been suffering the effects of altitude sickness. There's nothing like nausea, fatigue, headache and dizziness to make you comfortable in your new home. I am beginning to feel better today, getting lots of rest and drinking lots of water.

More later.
